Ultimate

One Android app of small offline tools: video editing, shrinking, audio extraction, a sound meter and an app inspector. No ads, no accounts, no internet permission.

Prototype

The README describes a large, active toolkit. I haven't built or installed the app, so what it does comes from the README.

The problem or experience

Phone utilities are usually cluttered with ads and trackers, and each one is a separate app. Ultimate keeps small tools in one place, and the standard edition's manifest has no INTERNET permission, so it cannot reach the network.

Who it's for

Android users who want simple tools that stay on the phone, and anyone curious how apps track them.

My contribution

It is my project. It brings together my earlier standalone Android tools (Squeeze and Pluck) into one codebase that can also be built as separate apps.

What works today

  • Studio: an offline video editor with a timeline, trim and split, speed, titles, music and H.264/AAC export, per the README.
  • Squeeze: shrinks videos with the phone's hardware encoders, with size targets and a before-and-after player.
  • Video to audio: extracts MP3, M4A or WAV from a video.
  • Sound meter: live microphone levels with sessions and CSV export, and no audio recorded.
  • Pluck: lists installed apps, extracts their APKs, and scans for ad and tracker SDKs offline.
  • One codebase builds several editions (Ultimate, Squeeze, Pluck and others). The latest commit mentions a terminal and SSH/SFTP work.

Limitations

  • I haven't built or run it. Everything here comes from the README and commit history.
  • A separate Traffic Inspector edition needs the internet permission. The README says its relay hasn't been run against a real phone's VPN tunnel in the repository.
  • No download or store link that I can verify.

How you can get involved

Want to try a build, or have a tool in mind?

  • If you're an Android user, tell me which small offline tool you wish existed.
  • If you do Android or Kotlin work, I'd welcome a second pair of eyes on the architecture.
